Today, Instagram announced that are now able to schedule content for the feed and IGTV, a feature that is already available for other many social media platforms. Hurray!
Using Facebook’s ‘creator studio‘ you can now add your Instagram account and schedule native content (unpaid) to post at any time you wish. This feature is only available for feed posts and IGTV but is a big step for social media managers and digital marketers who have previously relied on third party tools to do this on Instagram. It has been a long time coming as the option is already readily available for the likes of Facebook and is a very useful tool for many businesses, particularly SMBs, to help keep on top of regular social media content.
It’s not the only update that Instagram has rolled out recently. The platform is also trying to think more about its social responsibility and therefore take actions to make the platform a healthier place for everyone. The platform has recently removed the ability to see how many likes a post has (rolling out soon worldwide) and has just introduced a new sticker that makes it easy for people to donate to charitable causes through stories.
The app has also tested a ‘green screen’ which may allow users to chose a static image to have as a background for a photo in stories, much like the Apple Photobooth. Although this feature hasn’t been released yet there are reports of its introduction to the app.
The good news…
This will allow social media managers to schedule content without using a third party platform. Whilst the use of external platforms are useful to some, they can be expensive, and are often used as a necessity rather than by choice. This update gives marketers the choice to schedule content on whichever platform they choose.
The update will also allow businesses to explore their Instagram account insights and data more easily without entering the app. Whilst it is already possible to reply to messages via Facebook for business, the new Creator Studio platform will also allow you to do this.
Here at AAI, we’re just excited to have a play around with our Instagram account on the Creator Studio and find out how it will help us to plan and improve our content on our own account and our clients’.
